Winter sports

For the activity we learnt about the winter sport soccer.

We learnt how to infer/ read between the lines.

We also learnt about countries such as Brazil, that love the sport and their stadiums are full of fans.

For our  activity we read about the winter sport ,soccer.

For our activity, we designed a new school sports

Uniform for our school. I used black, white ,red and green that were the same as our school colours.  Once I finished the sports uniform I added it to canva, removed the background and gave it a title.

I enjoyed making the new sports uniform, adding the colours to it and choosing the design for the students.

The hardest thing was reading the article and getting the right information for the questions.

I don’t think I would change anything about the activity.

Do you enjoy watching or playing soccer?

Soldiers of Gallipoli

We have been learning about World War 1 and the soldiers that fought to win and save our county.

We have made our poppies that symbolise the men that died in the war.

We were searching up what Anzacs did in world war 1 and what Anzac day is.

We were also looking at what the soldiers ate when they were in the trenches and illnesses and sicknesses that they got.

We researched and printed pictures of the soldiers in world war 1 and what they wore to protect themselves from bullets and grenades. We printed out all of our work and made a poster about all our Anzac learning.

I enjoyed making the poster, because we created some art and pasted  it onto the poster, making it look interesting so people would like to read it.

I found it fun researching information about War. It was interesting learning about the horrible way that the soldiers had to live

I wonder how many soldiers died in World War 1?

Sea voyages

We have been learning about Maori Voyages in New Zealand Tūranganui-a-Kiwa The waiting place of Kiwa.

I needed to know about the story of the Maori people coming to Gisborne, because Gisborne is where I live.

I learnt about the Horouta the Māori canoe. The Maori people sailed across seas and rivers instead of using car’s because it was in the olden days and they didn’t have cars back then.

They carried Kūmara Sweet potato on the waka, so they wouldn’t go hungry and it was Hinehākirirangi’s job to look after the kumara.

The story was interesting because it taught me more about the horouta waka and who was on it and that the descendants of the Maori still live in Gisborne.

I found it challenging to read the Maori words because they were loing .

I wonder what happened to horouta waka ?
